Description Aims and Objectives

The purpose of the COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal is to provide support to the local community via the Bailiwick's charity and voluntary sector.  This could be either for:

Priority A) New schemes proposed by charities or community groups to support the community at this time; or

Priority B) To support charities providing a vital service to the community which are now in financial difficulty as a result of the coronavirus situation from decreased income or increased services

The official COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal has been endorsed by His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor Vice-Admiral Sir Ian Corder, KBE, CB, and the Bailiff of Guernsey, Sir Richard Collas.

It is supported by the Association of Guernsey Charities, the body that represents the Bailiwick’s charitable and voluntary sector.

Organisation and Management

The COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal is being coordinated by the Social Investment Fund.  This independent, non-profit organisation has recently been formed to enable significant sources of funding to be utilised for the benefit of the local charity and community sector.  

Money collected through the COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal will be treated separately, and used specifically for the purposes of the appeal.

The Social Investment Fund is run by five Board Members, chaired by Jurat Stephen Jones, OBE, who has considerable experience of the charitable and voluntary sector.
