This Sunday night there is a Bingo night in aid of the GSPCA and Clic Sargent. Taking place at La Nouvelle Maraitaine there are 10 games of bingo, 2 flyers, bonus ball and a strip of raffle tickets only £16 for 6’s or £11 for 3’s Plus this week we’ve got a surprise new game, pop down and join us. Volunteer Induction evening
Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA)

Volunteer Inductions are planned throughout 2018. Each induction will take place with a member of GSPCA staff who will greet the new volunteers and then show a video about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all the new volunteers who need to be aged from 13 years upwards to help with the animals on site. Although volunteering at the Animal Shelter starts at 13 for those under 13 they are always welcome to attend and get involved with events and fund raising. 2018 has already got many events planned with our stall being at the Guernsey Health Show next week. At the end of the induction a member of the team will chat to all there to set dates and times to start and all will given a certificate of attendance and a pack of information including a hand book. Dog first Aid Course

Next month we are holding a dog and cat first aid course for owners at the GSPCA. Taking the course will be GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who has over 20 years working in the field of animal rescue and with over 3000 animals through the doors every year at the GSPCA the team see cases of animal first aid on a daily basis here in Guernsey. Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have been running dog and cat first aid courses for over four years and have trained over 200 participants to help save animals lives.” “The next dog and cat first aid courses will take place in March at the GSPCA and you can book your place now for yourself or even as gift.” "As owners of pets our worst fear is not knowing what to do if our four legged friend has an injury and this training helps pet owners learn and understand ways to help save your pets life." Easter Guided Tours over the Easter Holidays between 28th March and 8th April

During the school breaks we run a series of guided tours at the GSPCA and we have now planned for 2018 with the next happening over the Easter break You can also book a tour for a special event or birthday. For details on special tours please see below. This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out. We ask for a minimum donation of £7 per person and £5 per child, or £20 for a family of four or £18 with an Islands Mum card. In 2018 we have some themed tours which are £20 per child or £17.50 with an Islands Mums card. The tours take around 60-90 minutes and you get to see in many of the departments, interact with some of the friendly residents and a variety of species. The special tours can take a little longer. Tours are a maximum of 20 people per tour, so please book early. The special tours are also a maximum of 20. Some of the animals you will have the chance to see will be cats, rabbits, birds, hedgehogs, dogs looking for homes and some of the other wildlife. With the temperatures rising and the sun shining, it can only mean one thing… Easter! Islland FM have teamed up with Cooper Brouard to continue an exciting event and fundraiser over Easter with fantastic sporting activities with Outdoor Guernsey including; Archery, the Indoor Climbing Wall and High Ropes. Island FM are welcoming families on Sunday 1st April from 11am at Les Maingy’s Activity Centre. As well as sporting activities, they’ll also be hosting an Easter egg hunt with prizes for all children who’ve entered. As well as all this, there will be other activities like face painting and a special appearance from their very own… Daniel the Donkey! Who will be accompanied by some fury animal friends There will also be multiple food stalls on the day too. Volunteer Induction Evening
Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA)

Volunteer Inductions are planned throughout 2018. Each induction will take place with a member of GSPCA staff who will greet the new volunteers and then show a video about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all the new volunteers who need to be aged from 13 years upwards to help with the animals on site. Although volunteering at the Animal Shelter starts at 13 for those under 13 they are always welcome to attend and get involved with events and fund raising. 2018 has already got many events planned with our stall being at the Guernsey Health Show next week. At the end of the induction a member of the team will chat to all there to set dates and times to start and all will given a certificate of attendance and a pack of information including a hand book. Our friendly and relaxed monthly community meets are an opportunity for bereaved parents and relatives to meet with others who have been through a similar experience. We aim to meet every month, from 7.30pm-9.30pm. The 2018 Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday will be the seventh and takes place on Sunday 20th May. On the 20th May 2018 10am to 4pm the GSPCA will be organising a day to celebrate the animals in Guernsey and all the wonderful work that is done to care for them. We are extremely grateful to all those that made last 6 years such great days and we are hoping this years will be bigger and better. There will be stalls and fun for all the family - all with an animal theme. Fancy dress to mascot 5-a-side football, childrens games to lots of food, a fun dog show to an animal less animal show, arts and crafts to charity stalls, some of the GSPCA animals looking for homes, entertainment and so much more........ This years Giant Animal Mascot event is a 5-a-side football match and can be entered as an individual or enter in the team event. All proceeds for this years race will help animals in Guernsey at the GSPCA so you can help support a great local charity, whilst having a lot of fun. Chose your Giant Animal Mascot Suit on the day or bring your own, details and sign up below...... 25th Annual Rock to Rocque Family Cycle ride

We are delighted to have reached 25 years with the popular Rock to Rocque family cycle ride which takes place on 27th May. This round the island ride is not a race but a family day out, starting at 845 at the top of the Val des Terres, 945 at Rocquaine and at 1045 at Grande Rocques depending on your ability. Volunteer Inductions are planned throughout 2018. Each induction will take place with a member of GSPCA staff who will greet the new volunteers and then show a video about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all the new volunteers who need to be aged from 13 years upwards to help with the animals on site. The Victor Hugo in Guernsey Society will be organising a 3-day seminar in June 2018 to coincide with an exhibition of Victor Hugo’s paintings at The Guernsey Museum & Art Gallery, Candie Gardens. The event will include a number of guided tours of Hugo’s haunts both in St. Peter Port and Guernsey as a whole; illustrated talks by world acknowledged Hugo academics; exhibitions of Hugo’s paintings and artefacts; and a performance in English of a Hugo play.

Dog First Aid Training Course

Next month we are holding a dog and cat first aid course for owners at the GSPCA. Taking the course will be GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who has over 20 years working in the field of animal rescue and with over 3000 animals through the doors every year at the GSPCA the team see cases of animal first aid on a daily basis here in Guernsey. Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have been running dog and cat first aid courses for over four years and have trained over 200 participants to help save animals lives.” “The next dog and cat first aid courses will take place in March at the GSPCA and you can book your place now for yourself or even as gift.” "As owners of pets our worst fear is not knowing what to do if our four legged friend has an injury and this training helps pet owners learn and understand ways to help save your pets life." Guernsey Sands Lights of Love Service

7.30-9.00pm St Saviour's Church Guernsey Sands is holding its annual Lights of Love service on Friday 7 December from 7.30pm at St Saviour's Church. This Christmas service is for all who have been deeply touched by the death of a child, at any age or stage of the child’s life and is an opportunity to honour the loved ones no longer with us, before we celebrate Christmas. This candlelit service by Reverend Linda Le Vasseur includes Christmas carols, readings, musical entertainment, candle lighting, memorial roll call and tag hanging in honour of your loved lost one and a few mementos of the evening followed by a light refreshment. Children are welcome This is a multi denominational service.
