Join in with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay #TakeYourDogToWorkDay this Friday 24th June 16145 Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) All around Guernsey each year businesses and offices have had their 4 legged friends come to work and this ear Bring Your Dog To Work Day takes places today, Friday 24th June. Having a dog in the room can make human colleagues more cooperative, reduce stress, increase job satisfaction and productivity. When adopting a dog or any animal from the GSPCA we often ask how many hours potential owners may be at work. Perhaps the question should actually be - are you able to take your dog to work? Discussing the benefits of taking a dog to work might just result in a match with a dog we have in for homing. We rehome hundreds of pets every year, with an average 40 to 50 dogs in need of a forever home in Guernsey each year. To see some of them when they are looking for homes please click here http://www.gspca.org.gg/animals/dogs . Seb Goman GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “We meet so many dogs here at the GSPCA from the strays we reunite to their owners to the boarding dogs in our care, those looking for new homes to those that have been cruelly treated.” “On Friday we hope that lots of owners around Guernsey get involved with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay or #TakeYourDogToWorkDay and why not help raise funds for those at the GSPCA at the same time.” Lorna Chadwick Animal Welfare Manager said "We rehome and help dozens of dogs every month through the Shelter and the dog training classes we run at the GSPCA, and it is really nice to hear of those owners that can take their dogs to work." "Annie my little dog often comes to work with me which she both enjoys and often earns her keep with helping with tasks around the Shelter such as school visits or seeing how dogs in for homes behave around other dogs, as does Mouse my other dog who was one of the Slovakian rescue dogs." Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “This is the eighth year the GSPCA have been getting involved with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay or #TAkeYourDogToWorkDay which is such a fantastic day celebrating dogs in Guernsey.” “We help rehome 40 to 50 dogs each year in Guernsey and help around 200 strays find their way home.” “We also help dogs in so many ways from training classes which will start again soon to our boarding and we have a few of the team that regularly bring their dogs to work so we will be involved once again with #BringYourDogtoWorkDay and #TakeYourDogToWorkDay .” “It all takes place this Friday and why not in place of a mufti day celebrate #BringYourDogtoWorkDay and help raise funds for the GSPCA.” “To set up a fund raising page for the day why not visit https://giving.gg/donate/charity/2/Guernsey-Society-for-the-Prevention-of-Cruelty-to-Animals-(GSPCA) or for lots of fund raising ideas please visit http://www.gspca.org.gg/fundraising .” “Every year #BringYourDogtoWorkDay was supported by many and a huge thanks to all that have got involved in previous years and we look forward to lots of pictures and updates for those helping us celebrate this years event.” Tim Pellett GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “I adopted Barney the cocker spaniel from the GSPCA and he makes a great office dog keeping me company when I have work to do at the desk.” “It is wonderful t be able to take your dog to work and we really hope lots of offices and businesses will get involved on Friday.” Upcoming Events we are at and need your help - Volunteer Induction Evening 630pm Thursday 23rd June 2022 Take Your Dog To Work Day 25th June Association of Guernsey Charities Government House Charity Fete Sunday 26th June Scarecrow Festival 23rd/24th July where we will have an entry.
