Guernsey Retired Ambulances to AfricaMember Number: 299Description Aims and Objectives To acquire and relocate retired Ambulance vehicles from our modern service to suitably chosen and vetted charities abroad. In 2007 2 ambulances, 2 motorbikes and an inshore lifeboat were donated and transported to English registered charities in The Gambia, West Africa.
Organisation and Management By a local committee of Chairman, Treasurer and committee members operating under The Association of Guernsey Charities guidelines. This organisation is supported by, yet independent of, The Guernsey Ambulance and Rescue Service.
Finance By grants from local government, public and private donations, fundraising events organised by committee members. All monies raised go directly to helping the beneficiaries of the charity. No wages are taken and all personal expenses, including travel, are paid for by the active committee members.
