The Sea Cadet Corps

Member Number:   096

Description Aims and Objectives

A uniformed, disciplined youth organisation, part of the National Sea Cadet Corps, open to boys and girls aged between 12 and 18 who have an interest in the sea, and who look for something different from the usual youth club activity.

Aims are to instil into young people an awareness of the importance of the sea and of the Royal and Merchant Navies; to teach self-discipline and a sense of caring for others; and to teach basic seafaring skills, whilst providing fun and adventure.

Organisation and Management

Day to day running of the unit, and training, is in the hands of a uniformed staff which is appointed by the Admiralty and Sea Cadet Headquarters. A Management Committee authorised by the Trustees of the Association is responsible for the general well being of the unit, including the provision of suitable headquarters, premises and fund-raising.

Finance

Dependant on public support through donations.
