Victoria HomesMember Number: 074Description Aims and Objectives The Victoria Homes consist of seven separate buildings in Park Lane. They provide sheltered accommodation for senior citizens of moderate means, mostly in small flats. There are still some bedsitters, though in recent years much upgrading has been done, where possible, to turn bedsitters into flats. The tenants live their own lives but help is always on hand if needed.
Organisation and Management The overall control of the homes is the responsibility of the Committee of Management, which employs an administrator who actually runs the homes. There are also two pairs of live-in supervisors who between them provide 24hr cover in case of emergency.
Finance Day to day expenses, including wages and general maintenance, are covered by the rents received. Larger expenses, such as a new roof, are met by donations and fund-raising. Bequests are received and invested by four trustees, and the interest is paid to the homes.
