Guernsey Combat Cancer Group (Wessex Cancer Trust)Member Number: 063Description Aims and Objectives A group working with the Wessex Cancer Trust office in Southampton linking with the specialist Southampton Hospitals serving Guernsey patients to: 1. Collect and publicise information concerning cancer, especially details of cancer care services available to Guernsey residents, such as home care services, assistance with patient comforts, accommodation, taxi and shopping problems, both on the Island and when visiting Southampton. 2. Provide direct help to Guernsey families and assistance with the purchase of equipment. 3. Support the trusts programme of public information, the cancer prevention campaign, and social and support facilities.
Organisation and Management By a local committee of Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Educational Advisor, Almoner and Co-ordinator.
Finance By fund-raising from the public to aid educational publicity work and assist the Southampton units and specialist staff concerned with Guernsey patients and provide help to Guernsey families. A relatively large number of people from the island are being treated for cancer.
