Guide Dogs for the Blind Association (Guernsey Branch)Member Number: 027Description Aims and Objectives The Guernsey branch of the U.K. association was formed to provide guide dogs to enable blind persons to have greater mobility and independence, thus enriching their lives. Besides providing its owner with freedom and companionship, the dog gives a feeling of being needed, as it is the owners responsibility to see that the dog has the utmost care and attention.
Organisation and Management A committee of seven members receives requests for dogs and arranges for the provision of a dog from the U.K. with training for the dog, and its owner.
Finance By donations from the public, via bequests, etc., and static collecting boxes. Funds received are sent to the Association in England which responds within a short waiting time to a request for a dog for a blind Guernsey person.
