League of Friends of King Edward VII HospitalMember Number: 026Description Aims and Objectives The League of Friends of King Edward VII Hospital a small independent charity whose aims are to provide extra amenities and comforts which are not generally covered by the health system, for the hospital residents and day patients of the King Edward VII Hospital. The League of Friends work very hard to raise funds by having an annual fete, coffee mornings, sale of second-hand books etc, and also rely heavily on donations of money and with the current credit crunch and competition from other deserving charities it is becoming even more difficult to raise funds. All money which is kindly donated is very much appreciated and is spent wisely for the benefit of all patients. The League of Friends meet regularly with the Matron and Activity Nurses who advise what is needed. Birthday and Christmas gifts are also provided to all patients as well as regular funds for craft materials etc. and also outings for the patients. Recent gifts have been a fridge, microwave and dishwasher for the popular Activities Kitchen and a DVD/VCR for entertainment. The next project request from the Matron is for funds to enable the Hospital to tidy up the patio area outside Kinnersley and Saward Wards where they hope to fill in the large fish pond and make a herb rockery. This area is currently wasted space and very untidy. With the help from a community working party they are hoping to make this a pleasant-looking and roomier area for patients and their visitors to enjoy.
Organisation and Management President, Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and members meet eight times per year. There is a small committee for emergencies.
Finance By a small annual subscription and an annual garden fête. Funds are spent on gifts for the hospital.
