Application deadline for
Channel Island Lottery Local charities are reminded that applications for a share of the Christmas Lottery proceeds need to be made by the end of this month. The 2007 Christmas Lottery was the most successful in its 30-year history, with the jackpot reaching £505,000. The amount of money to be given to charitable organisations hasn’t been finalised, but could also be higher than in previous years. Every year the proceeds of the Christmas draw are given to local charities to enable them to undertake projects. The 2006 draw raised over £131,000, which was distributed amongst 23 charities including many of the smaller charities, which provide facilities and services that benefit the island. Charitable organisations, which must be a member of the Association of Guernsey Charities in order to receive money from the lottery, can apply for a grant towards any project that they are undertaking in Guernsey during 2008. Any charity wishing to apply for a share of the funds will need to complete a Grant Application Form and return this to the Association with any supporting documents, and a full set of annual accounts. The application form is available on the Association of Guernsey Charities website: www.charity.org.gg. Applications must be returned to the Association no later than Thursday 31 January.
