Charities encouraged to
apply for lottery funding. With one week to go until this year’s Christmas Lottery draw, local charities are reminded that they should start planning their applications for a share of the money raised. This year’s huge jackpot indicates that the local lottery is more popular than ever, which will hopefully mean more money for the islands good causes. Every year the proceeds of the Christmas draw are given to local charities to enable them to undertake projects. Last years draw raised over £131,000, which was distributed amongst 23 charities including several of the large organisations, as well as many of the smaller charities, which provide facilities and services that benefit the island. Charitable organisations, which must be a member of the Association of Guernsey Charities in order to receive money from the lottery, can apply for a grant towards any project that they are undertaking in Guernsey during 2008. Any charity wishing to apply for a share of the funds will need to complete a Grant Application Form and return this to the Association with any supporting documents, and a full set of annual accounts. Any organisation wishing
to apply for a lottery grant has until the end of January to submit an
application. The application form, together with further details, can be
downloaded by clicking the link on the right of this page.
