2006 Christmas Lottery
(06 March 2007)
The Culture and Leisure
Department is pleased to announce that the payout to charities following
the 2006 Channel Islands Christmas Draw is a record £131,596.52.
“This is a marvellous achievement”
commented Deputy Jack Honeybill speaking on behalf of the Department’s
Lottery Advisory Panel. He added “Our thanks go
to all concerned for working so hard to produce such a marvellous
result.”
The
proceeds are distributed through the Association of Guernsey Charities.
Pauline Allen, the Association’s Chairman said that “I am delighted
with the outcome which will mean that more of the most deserving people
of the island will benefit.”
Local
charities wishing to request a share of the lottery funds had to submit
an application by the end of February. The Association’s Council are
currently considering each application.
Details
of grants from the 2006 Lottery will be announced at the Association of
Guernsey Charities AGM on 19 April.
