How to Join

Membership of The Association of Guernsey Charities is open to any organisation, based in the Bailiwick of Guernsey, that has charitable aims and objects.

If you are involved with a local charity, and would like to join, you will need to print a copy of the application form (link on the right of this page).  Applications cannot be completed online, as we require the application to be signed by a senior member of the organisation.

It is important to complete each section on the application form, as these details are used to produce information about your organisation for publication on this website.

Charity Registration
The Association of Guernsey Charities is neither a regulator nor an official register of charities. The Charities and Non Profit Organisation (Registration) (Guernsey) Law, 2008 requires all Non Profit organisations based in the Islands of Guernsey, Alderney, Herm and Jethou to register with the Office of the Registrar. A failure to do so is an offence.  However there is an exemption from this requirement which applies to organisations with gross assets and funds of less than 10,000, or gross annual income of less than 5,000.

Registration is administered by the Guernsey Registry  Application forms together with further information for charities can be found on their website: www.guernseyregistry.com/charities

In order for membership to be considered, you will also need to enclose the following with your application:

  • A copy of your constitution / trust document / governing document

  • A copy of the letter from Guernsey Registry confirming Registered Charity
OR Confirmation from States Income Tax that exempt from Guernsey tax

  • A copy of your latest accounts from the last financial year (preferably audited)
(Income and Expenditure Accounts and Balance Sheet)
If your organisation is within the first year of operation, then you should send proof that you have a bank account for your organisation.

  • Association of Guernsey Charities joining fee - 10 (cheque only - NOT cash)

This should be sent to The Membership Secretary at the address given on the form.
