The Guernsey Community FoundationThe Guernsey Community Foundation was formed in 2010 with the overriding objective of ‘promoting effective philanthropy’ within the island. The Foundation is actively involved in a number of projects which support this objective and help build the capacity of the voluntary sector. The development of the Foundation’s work follows the commissioning of a research project by Bristol University in 2010/2011 which looked into the voluntary sector in Guernsey. Phase one has seen the Foundation develop a strategy for volunteering; a programme for distributing funds; and a training programme to strengthen and upskill volunteers and voluntary sector workers. It has also seen the Foundation raise awareness of the hard work and commitment of everyone working in the voluntary sector and of the challenges facing them in the future. Phase two sees the Foundation engaging with the States of Guernsey and voluntary organisations in relation to social policy in the island. The Guernsey Community Foundation aims to support local voluntary organisations as they develop their services and grow. For more information about the Foundation please visit the website – www.foundation.gg – where you can keep up to date with projects and news, and where you can download a copy of the most recent Review of Activities. You can also follow ‘Guernsey Community Foundation’ on Facebook. The Guernsey Community Foundation is a member of the Association of Guernsey Charities - member number 330
