Seed Swap and Plant Sale The event will be held at the Sandpiper Vinery, Rue des Heches, St. Pierre du Bois, from noon to 3 PM. This is a family-friendly event. And there will be a raffle.
Secretary to the Board of Trustees Duties of the Secretary are as follows: • Preparing agendas in consultation with the chair and circulating them and any supporting papers in good time • Making all the arrangements for meetings (booking the room, arranging for equipment and refreshments, organising facilities for those with special needs, etc) • Receiving agenda items from other trustees/staff • Checking that a quorum is present • Taking minutes (or being responsible for them being taken) and circulating draft minutes to all trustees • Ensuring that the minutes are signed by the Chair once they have been approved • Checking that Trustees and staff have carried out actions agreed at a previous meeting • Circulating agendas and minutes of the annual general meeting and any special or extraordinary general meetings (where required) Person specification In addition to the person specification for a Trustee, the Secretary should have the following qualities. • Organisational ability • Knowledge or experience of business and committee procedures • Minute-taking experience, if this is not being delegated to staff In addition to the above, the Secretary sits on the Board of Directors.
Trustee -- Community Engagement Ideal for someone with a background in community outreach or public relations. This person would focus on engaging the local community, promoting participation in growing activities, and fostering a supportive community around sustainable food practices.
Trustee -- Educational Programs This trustee should have experience in education or training, particularly in areas related to agriculture, sustainability, or environmental sciences. They will be crucial in developing and implementing educational programs that share knowledge about sustainable growing techniques.
Trustee -- Innovation & Technology Look for an individual with a background in agricultural technology, research, or innovation. This person would lead efforts in experimenting with new growing techniques and advancing the organization's role as an incubator for new commercial ventures.
Trustee -- Commercial Development Ideal for someone with experience in business development, especially within the agricultural or food sector. They should help translate sustainable practices into viable commercial ventures, contributing to the local economy and the availability of fresh produce.
Trustee -- Environmental Sustainability Seek an individual with a strong background in environmental science or sustainability initiatives. This trustee would ensure that all practices are environmentally sound and contribute to the overall health of Guernsey's ecosystem.
Trustee -- Legal & Compliance This role should be filled by someone with a legal background, preferably in areas related to agriculture, environmental law, or non-profit organizations. They will provide essential guidance on compliance, governance, and risk management.
