Description Aims and Objectives
As part of the Guille-Allès Library’s commitment to take our service out into the community, we’ve established a number of volunteer-run community libraries around the island.
The community libraries are open once or twice per week, stocked with books, DVDs and other items from the Guille-Allès. They’re a real lifeline for elderly people and many others who for whatever reason find it hard to get into Town.
We’re always on the lookout for more volunteers. Whether you’d like to help out with the issues and returns, or you’d rather stick to the most important work (making the teas and coffees) we’d love to have you on board!
There are currently four community libraries, at the following locations:
· Western Community Centre (Styx), next to the Longfrie, open Wednesday mornings from 10 til 12
· La Nouvelle Maraitaine, opposite the Vale Douzaine Room, open Fridays from 10 til 4
· Rosaire Court, off Brock Road in St Peter Port, open Monday mornings from 10 til 12
· Salvation Army Community Centre, on Nocq Road just off the Bridge, open Wednesday mornings and Friday mornings from 10 til 12
